HELLO THERE

Hello there,

My it's been a long while since I've posted on the blog. I don't know why I neglected to do so for so long. Oh, I know, the dogs ate my notes!!! Doesn't work, does it? Not anymore than it did way back when, right?

Anwyway, I got this picture from someone and I thought it was cute. See if you agree. Hope some of you log on and tells us how you are doing.

Hello Anybody out there? It really has been a long time since there has been any activity. So, what is everyone up to? I had surgery on both feet back in December and really wish I hadn't done it!!! Hopefully it will get better and I will be able to run around like I use to. Kris, Melody, Randy - come on guys what's been going on? Kris we really need to plan that road trip to see Trev - you know he wants us to invade his space!

Well, here's a tale from the '50s -- 1959 to be exact. I thought about it today as I was driving through town here.

We lived just a few blocks south of what is now West Amarillo Boulevard, and a block west of North Georgia Street. My family didn't have a car. My parents paid a neighbor whose son also went to Sam Houston a dollar a week to give my brother and myself a ride to and from school.
We walked over to their house every morning. Each Monday, the husband/father in that household would tell his wife to put 10 gallons of gas in her car "and bring me the change." And he would hand her a $5 bill.
Wow! Ten gallons. Five dollars. And more than $3 change back.
I'm not sure what gasoline cost back then. I do recall that in 1975 in Amarillo it was about 42 cents a gallon, because I moved down to Austin that year and complained because it was higher -- 49 cents a gallon.
